In your opinion, what are the highlights of your program?
Our program is heavily focused on resident wellness and the importance of maintaining a good work-life balance. We have comprehensive educational experiences and work with preceptors that are respectful and enthusiastic about teaching. As a Queen’s resident, you are really valued among colleagues of different professions as a member of the team!
The collegiality between preceptors and residents, and among residents. Our program leadership team is caring and transparent with residents, and they make changes happen based on resident feedback. The focus on wellness has been key to fostering “happy residents”!
Amazing! I feel incredibly well supported by my preceptors, program directors, and resident colleagues. I feel like they are all rooting for me to succeed, and have my back when needed.
Wonderful! I still have time to pursue my passions outside of medicine, like training for a triathlon, baking sourdough bread on the weekend, spending time at the beach, enjoying board game or movie nights with my co-residents, going on bike rides, hikes, skating, etc.
Our program introduces us to the importance of wellness and maintaining a good work-life balance immediately from the start. There are ongoing discussions and check ins with our program directors regarding resident wellness, and we are respected as human beings by our preceptors and colleagues. I feel like my residency program leadership truly cares about my wellness and supporting my needs.
Spending time with my co-residents and learning from new preceptors!
