The MUN Neurology Residency Program is committed to training and preparing future neurologists for academic and community practices with a solid foundation in general neurology. The vast majority of our residents ultimately pursue further subspecialty/fellowship training, which is well supported by the program’s flexible schedule, ample elective opportunities, early responsibility due to the smaller program size, and early mentorship opportunities thanks to the close and collegial group.
In July 2020, the Neurology Residency Program transitioned to Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME). This is a five-year program divided into 4-week rotations/blocks. The training schedule is broadly divided into four parts: Transition to Discipline, Foundations, Core, and Transition to Practice.
Memorial University offers a smaller Neurology Residency Program, which allows for greater independence and exposure to complex cases early in residency. Furthermore, our group provides far more than a collegial and respectful atmosphere – it fosters close, meaningful relationships between residents, faculty, allied health, and support staff.
