This residency program is for 1 year.
Program length of training does not exceed the Royal College or College of Family Physicians of Canada standard.
This program is intended for physicians who require the capability to perform caesarean sections in their community on completion of the program with a demonstrated need in that community
A) Nine months of obstetrics including all of the above as well as training in caesarean sections. Residents are in the call rota with Ob/Gyn residents, managing patients on the wards, in triage and on labour floor. They also participate in antenatal clinics. There may also be an opportunity to collaborate with midwifery to enhance understanding between care providers.
B) Three months of Women’s Health horizontal experiences which may include the following clinics: general gynecology, , mature women’s health, adolescent health, addictions, perinatal mental health, urogynecology, infertility, gynecologic oncology including colposcopy, breast health, neonatology, eating disorders
c)Family Medicine Continuity clinic – one half day per week in a Family Medicine Clinic
