Faits saillants

Strong connection with community and rural labs: community laboratory longitudinal management program and passionate preceptors offering elective opportunities

Emphasis on pathology informatics: our General Pathology Division has several members with active interests in pathology informatics. With a catchment population of close to 1.4 million people on a common laboratory information system and 25 million reported tests per year, our training environment offers tremendous opportunities for research

Time spent with physician specialists and laboratorians in each area of clinical pathology (Microbiology, Chemistry, Apheresis, Hematopathology)

Graduated teaching (introductory rotations) and on-call responsibilities in all areas of surgical and clinical pathology. Protected longitudinal academics in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology throughout training

Our graduates are well-placed for their careers: either entering a staff pathologist role directly out of residency or pursuing a subspecialty fellowship in any area of Laboratory Medicine (Anatomical or Clinical Pathology)

Calgary
Calgary, a cosmopolitan Alberta city with numerous skyscrapers, owes its rapid growth to its status as the centre of Canada’s oil industry. However, it’s still steeped in the western culture that earned it the nickname “Cowtown,” evident in the Calgary Stampede, its massive July rodeo and festival that grew out of the farming exhibitions once presented here.
