Our program offers the following:
- Team based approach to general medical oncology curriculum which affords opportunity to concentrate on one to three tumour sites at a time
- Excellent academic curriculum throughout the week which includes regular rounds (division wide and team based), scientific seminars, introductory summer lecture series, basic science of oncology series, lecture series covering topics essential to the practice of medical oncology, journal club focusing on clinical trials methodology and a social “Fireside Chat” three to four times a year focusing on non-scientific issues of interest to trainees
- Enthusiastic and friendly faculty with interest and experience in teaching and clinical trials
- Large centre with abundant clinical material
- Critical mass of trainees (7-10 in the program at any time)
- Large long-term outcomes databases in many tumour sites and close collaboration with scientists which supports translational research. Province wide pharmacy database. Track record of success in mentoring projects from conception to presentation and publication.
- Flexibility (and resources) to focus on a particular area of clinical or research interest in the PGY-5 year
