The Calgary Neurosurgery Residency Program is known for providing training in a collaborative and collegial environment where the highest quality of service and education are delivered. Two new residents are accepted each year. In addition to hands-on and didactic teaching of residents, the faculty contributes significantly to undergraduate medical education. They are closely involved in the small group curriculum as well as clerkship rotations. Semi-annual events for both residents and their significant others contribute to the close comradery fostered within our program.
We have recently incorporated Competency by Design (CBD) training to guide learners as they progress through the program.
The section of Neurosurgery encompasses all subspecialties including; cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery, epilepsy neurosurgery, hydrocephalus, neuro-oncology, skull base surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, peripheral nerve surgery, functional neurosurgery, stereotactic radiosurgery and spine surgery to give our residents a well rounded training program.
