The clinical exposure within our Program provides an amazingly wide variety of medical pathologies that are unique to our large and diverse Program. We have >50 dedicated rotations across our Core Sites and several dedicated rotations within our Community Sites. All of our clinical faculty are fellowship-trained subspecialists who are dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our patients as well as our clinical colleagues. As Radiologists, we are well integrated into the functioning of our healthcare delivery teams.
On the educational front, our Residents benefit from a comprehensive and adaptable Foundations and Core curriculum that includes a combination of didactic lectures, interactive demonstration sessions, on-line modules, and RADPrimer/STATdx access. Additionally, our Residents participate in our two-year longitudinal Medical Imaging Applied Physics Curriculum that includes dedicated Medical Imaging Physics Laboratory experiences. All of our Residents have a unique exposure to anatomic pathology through the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology (AIRP) in the United States, and through their senior-level rotation in Forensic Radiology at the Forensic Services and Coroner’s Complex.
All of our Residents participate in Medical Imaging research, with an introduction through a dedicated research course and workshop. As our residents learn to become Medical Imaging investigators, each resident will have the opportunity to work with our world-class researchers and become a member of one of our unique research groups.

We are looking for motivated, energetic, enthusiastic and dependable trainees with a strong academic background and good interpersonal skills. Hard working residents who work well with their colleagues and have high standards of professionalism are the most successful residents within our training program.
Research is not a mandatory requirement for application to our program although exposure to research activities is encouraged.
There are many opportunities for residents to teach both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. PGY4 residents are required to teach at the PGY2 Summer Lecture Series. There are many other opportunities offered in the program and through other postgraduate programs.
Residents are formally assessed at the end of each rotation and also receive informal feedback throughout the rotation. In addition, there are several in-training assessments which include 2 OSCE examinations per year, an annual oral exam, and an annual written exam (ACR). PGY2 residents take the Emergency Radiology on-line Simulator, designed to assess level of readiness for independent call.
Residents are also required to submit a CanMEDS portfolio each year. Residents meet 1:1 with the Program Director every 6 months or more frequently as needed.
Residents in the PGY4 year are given a biweekly full academic day to make progress on their research projects.
Approximately 98% of our graduating residents pursue a fellowship. Almost all residents are accepted to the fellowship program of their choice, most of which are competitive fellowships in the United States and Canada.
Our residents are well-trained to sit their Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examination. Our faculty provide dedicated board preparation and coaching sessions to all PGY5 residents starting in November of the PGY5 year. We have a dedicated OSCE Bank that is accessible over the Internet that simulates the non-supervised OSCE stations at the board exams.
