Resident Experience

A.Nocon FMR1
PGY-1
Longitudinal curriculum, which emulates the non-compartmentalized work life of a rural family physician
A lot of hands on experience especially with procedures. Good staff to resident ratio. Lots of opportunity for informal teaching. Direct feedback for resident development.
The community feels collegial. There is good support for each others growth.
I usually go camping and enjoy the lakes in northern Saskatchewan. I do off-roading with my family. I enjoy watching movies at home with family or with friends. In the winter, we go to Table Mountain and learn different winter sports.
We have resident wellness days which really help us wind down a bit from the demands of residency. Resident retreat helps us bond with other residents. Time off work are accommodated. Residents can take sick leave when needed.
To develop more complex procedural skills and manage patients independently in both hospital and clinic setting.
