Resident Experience

Université de Sherbrooke – Dermatologie – Sherbrooke
Steffany Poupart
PGY2
The program is structured to gradually introduce us to the field by introducing us to dermatology early with academic half-days starting in the first year of the program.
Only PGY1 and PGY2 are in Sherbrooke which means we are integrated into the team quickly and our exposure is maximized even during non dermatology rotations.
There is a collegial relationship between residents and staff. Between residents, there are frequent social activities outside of the hospital.
The resident community in Sherbrooke is dynamic; outside of COVID, there are many social activities. There is also easy access to provincial parks, ski mountains and many more outdoor activities.
The staff is very open to discussion about challenges faced by residents. There are individual meetings with the program directors biannually. The program directors respond quickly to residents’ questions and suggestions and show an openness and flexibility should any personal or program related concerns arise.
During PGY2, we have more on-service dermatology rotations and it is the first year we have both PGY1 and PGY2 residents in Sherbrooke.
