Faits saillants

Highlights of the medical microbiology program at the University of Manitoba include:

A close working relationship with both the pediatric and adult infectious diseases training programs at the University of Manitoba, including shared clinical rounds, journal club, and half-day. This ensures excellent training in clinical infectious diseases.

Formal courses in clinical bacteriology, clinical virology, and parasitology that are provided as part of the academic half-day. A variety of other teaching sessions are offered outside of academic half-day (e.g., plate rounds, clinical rounds, tropical medicine rounds, medical microbiology specific teaching sessions). Additionally, trainees are funded to attend an epidemiology course off-site.

A mandatory rotation through the National Microbiology Laboratory, which is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Winnipeg
Winnipeg is the capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba. Its heart is The Forks, a historic site at the intersection of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, with warehouses converted to shops and restaurants, plus ample green space dedicated to festivals, concerts and exhibits. Nearby, the Exchange District is known for its well-preserved, early 20th-century architecture and numerous art galleries.
